Michelin DH22 Tire Review - A special tire with a lot of grip. Up and down!

A set of grippy tires can be the difference between sticking that high line and sticking your face in the dirt. If you'd prefer to keep it rubber side down, then Michelin's DH22 tires may just be the answer.

Michelin designed the DH22 to be a no-apologies downhill race tire, with their ultra-tacky MAGI-X rubber wrapped around one of the burliest casings out there. The tread pattern and size strikes that versatile middle ground shared by the Maxxis Assegai, so Michelin says it's a versatile tire designed for soft and loose conditions without suffering on hardpack. The carcass features a wrap-around bead to bead protective layer; a puncture protection layer directly under the tread; 4 ply double defense protection in the sidewalls, and a wire bead that has a low-pressure reinforcement. All this adds up to a weight that's not for the faint hearted, at over 1.5kg each, but does that mean you can't climb with them? And more importantly, as they as grippy as they are made out to be? Check out the video to see our thoughts.
