The AK74 was first majorly fielded in the Soviet Afghan campaign in 1978, and the 5.45x39 cartridge was quickly nicknamed the "poison bullet" by the Mujahideen. The cartridge showed great promise in the Warsaw pact for years after, but never gained a major following in the west.

How does the tiny 5.45 caliber projectile do at greater ranges? How does the Kalashnikov system work in its purest form? We find out.
