Just Because it's First Doesn't mean it's Still Worth Discussing, An English Class Rant

I don't know about you, but I remember a lot of the books I read in English class were chosen because "they pioneered a genre or sub-genre" and not because they were the best examples of that genre or sub-genre, but I never really had a good example of "it was objectively done better later" to explain why this isn't a valid argument.
