Reforming Jackson’s Water System
Senator Joel Carter discusses SB 2889, "The Mississippi Capitol Region Utility Act" which would ensure access to safe, clean, and reliable water for the citizens in central Mississippi and for related purposes.
Ted Henifin, the interim manager appointed by Biden’s U.S. Department of Justice, has decided to charge residents of Jackson by the value of their home and not on their water usage as their water bill.
"The city of Jackson requires 50 million gallons of water a day and 30 million of those gallons are just leaking into the streets... How do you charge someone from a number out of a pie in the sky? I don't understand how you bill anyone other than based on their actual usage."
