Mary Vincent | An Unimaginable Ordeal #3

It’s the 29th of September 1978. 15-year-old Mary Vincent finds herself on the side of a road in Berkley California with two other people, as she’s currently hitchhiking 400 plus miles to Corona California, to live with her grandfather.

Sticking her thumb up at the side of the road, a blue van would pull up alongside Mary. Inside the van, would sit a middle-aged balding man in the driver’s seat.

The driver would tell Mary that he only had room for her and not the other two. Mary would speak with the others, who would warn her not to go with the man, sensing something wasn’t quite right. He seemed to have plenty of room but was adamant he would only take Mary. Mary would decide to take the ride, ignoring the advice from the other two hitchhikers.

It would be a decision she would regret for the rest of her life.
