Start watching the moon. Notice at anytime, Dawn, Dusk or Midday you will absolutely never see the part that appears in the shadow.
If it was solid as a rock, you would see the rock in the background.

Its the part you don't see that reveals truth. Use binoculars. You can focus on a nearby mountain just like you can focus on the moon, indicating its reasonably close, just like the nearby mountain.

During the full moon you will see the face. The face never changes. The face may rotate clockwise or counter clockwise. You will never see any other surface of moon.
