Mission Motto: (Know Before You Go)
My STEPS:
Write out your PUNCH list for supply run
Get your tools in order
Go to parts store of your choice

Buy all 4 gaskets & FILL Valve
#1 & #2 common issues are the FLAPPER and FILL Valve

Make it back home safely
Double check your list, your tools and take a coffee break
Get some rags, a water container for drips / gush etc

1. turn off water
2. Flush toilet
3. try to get out the water in tank bowl
4. Top to bottom fix
5. Start with flapper
6. Install flapper
7. Turn on water, let it fill, flush and let it fill again
8. Wait a few minutes (2nd coffee break, check you phone for updates)
9. Do you STILL hear a leak? Do the kool-aid test again

STILL leaking, YES?

1. Start over, steps 1-9 except you are good on flapper.
2. FILL Valve is usually #2, it is easier than the bowl gasket.
3. Wax Ring and Bowl Gasket typically have water on the floor, so you know what the problem is.
4. After you replace fill valve, double check your work
5. turn water back on
6. flush, let it fill again. take your 3rd break. YES! more than likely,
