Long haired cats & external hairballs

One of the best grooming devices I have had over the years, is a cheap pet grooming razor. I think the one I'm still using was around $20. On Amazon.

I used it on Alexa, who in her glory, was a long hair cat. She had internal hairball issues....her 2 sisters had external hairball issues. As does Bessie. My best friend (and theirs) became a razor.

People say to brush your long hair cat. I do this, but those fine hairs in sensitive places still gets matted from their grooming.

I started with Bessie's behind. The first time they get "messy", they are VERY happy to get clean. As are we....
She didn't mind the noise because it was helping her. Now I trying to keep her rear shaved to stave off any unfortunate accidents 🙈

When I started on her pits, the hairballs were small but close to her skin. It had to be uncomfortable. I just stared away from them, taking away some long hairs. Then just slowly started shaving close to her skin in small, really small little swipes.
It must've felt good getting those tight hairballs loosened because she barely moved. I did the 2 she had on separate days. This is new to her and I didn't want to scare her.

I had been working on those hairballs with a brush & furminator...no go...

This worked like a champ and Bessie feels So much better.
