The Emily Jones Trial - Was this Justice?

UPDATE: Eltiona Skana has been handed a life sentence, with a minimum term of 8 years.

This will be a hybrid sentence and she will only be sent to prison if her treatment allows it.

Judge Mr Justice Wall told her: “What this means is that you will be detained in hospital until no longer necessary. If or when it’s no longer necessary you will be released to prison.”

If Skana is never fit to be released to prison she will remain in treatment at hospital indefinitely.

The Emily Jones Trial - Was this Justice? - Episode 9 - TTBWL

I’m putting a hold on the usual format to update everyone on the recent court case relating to the killing of Emily Jones.

Eltiona Skana was found not guilty of the 7 years old girls murder, after admitting to Manslaughter, on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

The verdict has caused an understandable wave of outrage. I want to review the case so far, along with the reasoning as to why the murder charges were dropped by the prosecution.

The sentencing will take place on the 8th December 2020.
