French Mle 1892 "Lebel" Revolver

I recently acquired this French Modele 1892 revolver. These are usually referred to as Lebel revolvers, however Lt. Col Lebel didn't have anything to do with it's development.It was introduced in 1892, and was produced until 1924. These revolvers were issued to commissioned officers during World War One before being replaced by semi automatic pistols in 1935. They later saw some use in World War Two as well, especially after the fall of France.They fire a small, 8mm cartridge which is also mistakenly referred to as Lebel.These revolvers have some unique features, a fold down loading gate that disconnects the trigger from the hammer, a swing out cylinder with simultaneous eject and a fold out side plate for easy disassembly or cleaning.All in all, they are a neat revolver that would make a welcome addition in anyone's surplus firearm collection.
