The celebration of the 79th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad ended with a salute of 12 guns, which was given from the Big Beach of the Peter and Paul Fortress.

On January 27, 1944, Soviet troops pushed back the Germans at a distance of 60-100 km and completely unblocked Leningrad. On this day, the inhabitants of St. Petersburg honor the defenders of the city and remember the victims of the most difficult blockade.
~~ Leningrad is Saint Petersburg , once the Communists took over they changed the name to Leningrad , after the collapse of the USSR , Russia changed the name back.
~~ To the tens of people who might see this , if you don't know the history of the siege of Leningrad , I encourage you to find a good documentary on YouTube , its very interesting , millions of people died for that city , over 1M civilians , 1M red army , possibly 500,000 Germans , The battle of Stalingrad , Both battles for Kiev , and many others were filled with suck death and destruction. That just one of those battles is worse than a average modern war.
