Scientists Discover SCARY New Layer Of Brain Tissue That Could Change The Way We Think FOREVER
Are you ready to learn about a super cool discovery in the world of science? Diarmid here, your Science Maniatics correspondent for today.
Scientists have found a new layer of tissue in our brains that helps protect it and keeps it healthy. They've called it the Subarachnoid LYmphatic-like Membrane, or SLYM for short. This layer is only a few cells thick and helps control the flow of a special fluid called cerebrospinal fluid.
This fluid helps transport waste out of the brain and supports its immune system. The SLYM also seems to be the home base of brain-specific immune cells, which are like little helpers that keep the brain healthy.
Abnormalities in this layer may trigger or worsen multiple sclerosis, brain infections and Alzheimer’s. This discovery is really exciting because it helps us understand more about how the brain works.
