During the early 1980's Breakin" (Break Dancing) originated in Bronx, NY and then Exploded across the world in the form of Breakin' & Pop Locking. The new form of Dance & Art had spread to the State of California which inspired an entire generation that helped push, create and transform Breakin', B-Boys & Pop Lockin' to a whole new level. Break Dancing & Pop Lockin' crews began to form all over the Streets Of Los Angeles, CA throughout the 1980's and it even inspired a Hollywood Feature Film to be released in 1984 on the big screen called BREAKIN' which featured popular B-boy & Los Angeles, CA Native Michael "Boogaloo Shrimp" Chambers who played the character TURBO in the film. Breakin' also featured another popular Los Angeles, California Latino B-Boy Bruno "Pop N Taco" Falcon.

Hip-Hop culture was exploding during the 1980's and it got even bigger on the West Coast of California as Gangsta Rap, G-Funk Sound and west coast R&B & Boogie took over the entire Hip-Hop World during the 1990's. Popular sayings like "California Knows How To Party", "Ain't no party like a West Coast Party Cause a West Coast Party Don't Stop" were coined in many popular songs featuring 2Pac Shakur, Snoop Dogg & Tha Dogg Pound along with NWA & Dr. Dre. Movies like House Party, Boyz N The Hood, Poetic Justice & Menace II Society went mainstream. California Hip-Hop Culture was officially on the Map worldwide. But if you did not grow up in California you would have no idea how ethnically diverse it really is. You can drive anywhere in California and find a Black, Eritrean, Jamaican, Belezian, Mexican, Salvadorian, Samoan, Guamanian, Tongan, Korean, Filipino, Cambodian or Vietnamese Neighborhood. California is a melting pot of people from all different ethnic, national and racial backgrounds, so when Hip-Hop culture exploded it inspired people from all backgrounds, especially in California.

Growing up in the 80's and 90's in Junior High School & High School, we had many EPIC B-Boy Pop Lockin' battles during Lunch hour in the Quad or after school at the local parks. The battles would also take place at after school functions such as Kick Back parties, House Parties, Beach battles on the weekend, ditch parties and Beach Battle meetups & talent shows or local competitions. Pop Lockin' had become apart of our DNA In California, it was a way of life. The same thing happened with Crip Walking (C-Walk) in the 1990's. Low Rider Car Culture and car shows exploded within the Latino culture which then spread to the blacks and other ethnic groups and then drag & street racing also took off during the 1990's with the Asians & White Boys which inspired the Hollywood Feature California Pop Culture Classic "THE FAST & THE FURIOUS," starring Paul Walker & Vin Diesl. This film also spread to other ethnic groups which then created SIDE SHOWS from the Bay Area in Northern California when MAC DRE & LUNIZ put a spotlight on it during the early 1990's. Today they call Side Show "Street Takeovers. "

This culture of Dance, Art & Hip-Hop was celebrated at Car Shows, Concerts, Night Clubs, Parties, Family Functions and much more throughout California during the 1980's up until about the mid 2000's. Today California is not the same as it once was decades ago as a new different generation of people have taken over the state and most of the people from that generation have either passed away, moved out of state, grew old, started families etc. But this Generation of Hip-Hop Culture in the 80's and 90's will always be timeless and 2nd to None. This was greatest Hip-Hop Dance, Party and Car Culture the world has ever seen and it took place in California USA. RIP HIP-HOP 1977 To 2008.
