Self-harming?

According to www.mind.org.uk

Self-harm is when you hurt yourself as a way of dealing with difficult feelings painful memories or overwhelming situations and experiences.

Self-harming can take many forms. Such as strangling yourself, cutting yourself, biting yourself, and digging your nails into yourself.

Or mental self-harm:

Telling yourself I hate myself, I want to kill myself, I’ll never be worthy of love. Just all around negative thoughts.

Why do people self-harm? (researched based on findings from www.mind.org.uk)

1. To express something that is hard to put into words. So you might be going through something that you feel you just can’t talk about and think that the only solution for people to care is to physically harm yourself.

2. Turn invisible thoughts or feelings into something visible —> so you maybe really angry with yourself, hating yourself and don’t know what to do with those feelings so you make it visible on your flesh.

3. Change emotional pain into physical pain —> so feeling so much pain everyday, every second that then your vice becomes self-harming

4. Reduce overwhelming emotional feelings or thoughts
