According to the study, many of the gestures that wild chimpanzees and bonobos use to communicate with one another can be understood by humans.
Researchers from St Andrews University in Scotland conducted the video-based investigation with volunteers translating monkey motions.
It implies that comparable gestures were utilized by the last common ancestor between humans and chimpanzees, and that these may have served as the "beginning point" for language.
