$0.40 socks at Macedonian Bazaar 🇲🇰

I needed some shorts, and where better to get some cheap shorts than a Macedonian bazaar in Skopje? Well I can’t think of anywhere better. I’m not a fan of markets, they’re crowded and the sellers tend to harass you instead of letting you browse, especially the closer to Turkey you get. There is a lot of Turkish influence in Macedonia as the Ottomans invaded and left their mark here. You’ll see Ottoman mosques and a lot of Turkish food in Skopje.

We wandered around the bazaar for about an hour, but my camera cut out before I actually made the purchase. IO bought a pair of “Nike” shorts for the equivalent of £4 and they’re pretty comfortable. I may go back to get some tops. Tanya also bought a couple of pairs of socks for less than £1 which seemed to be a great deal. We actually caught this on camera.

What we didn’t catch on camera unfortunately was a guy trying to rip us off. The shorts in every stall were marked as 300 MKD, but then when I found a pair I liked, this guy doubled the price, so he got told where to go, and I walked off. Just because we’re foreign doesn’t mean you should try to scam us. Poor practice. I may well go back and get some this on camera.

It was extremely hot during this trip to the Macedonian bazaar, so luckily some of it was covered.
