Foreigner tries FAMOUS Indian Street Food in Kolkata 🇮🇳

Whilst in Kolkata, I had to try street food, so I got in touch with Afroz who offered to show me around the famous Indian street food part of Kolkata.

In the video we tried some sweet stuff called Gulab Jamun, something else made with bread, some beetroot in breadcrumb thing, another deep fried vegetable thing, some lassi, some pani puri and some strange fruit!

Kolkata is a super busy city in West Bengal, close to Bangladesh, with a lot going on, lots of people, street food, art, good architecture, things to do and friendly people.

Afroz is a well-trained chef who lives in Kolkata, but has plans to move to Europe to pursue his culinary training over in Europe. I have eaten a lot of Indian food in my life, it's one of my favourite cuisines and I try to have new foods whenever I get the opportunity. I'm also aware that as India is huge, there are many different cuisines all over the country, so it's good that I travelled to so many different parts of India and tried the food there. I'm not sure which part of India had the best food in my opinion, but it was all pretty good, very tasty.

Kolkata is sometimes called Calcutta and there is loads of stuff to do with Mother Teresa in Kolkata, as she was Mother Teresa of Calcutta. The city is also littered with communist symbols, which is a worrying sign for the Indian people.

Being so close to Bangladesh, around Kolkata you'll see far more mosques than you usually see in other parts of India and a much larger muslim population. The food is different than other parts of India, which is why I came to Kolkata, to check out the food and the different culture here compared to other parts of India.
