First impressions of Bogotá, Colombia 2021 🇨🇴

Our first impressions of Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia, early in 2021. Have you ever been to Colombia?

Colombia is known generally for a few things, like Pablo Escobar, drugs, Shakira, James Rodriguez and a few other things. A lot of people think Colombia is very dangerous and for that reason wouldn't visit Colombia, let alone Bogotá.

We don't think like that, we are happy to visit pretty much anywhere and see what it's like.

The weather in Bogotá wasn't great, but also wasn't too bad. It was pretty cold in the mornings, but during the day is was fine.

Colombian people are insanely friendly. The city is very well priced in terms of food, accommodation and transport. We would recommend visiting the city and staying in La Candelaria.

Is Colombia safe? Well, it certainly has improved a lot over the last 20 years, but compared to Europe, it's not that safe. Compared to the world in general, yes, it's pretty safe. There are police and the army everywhere in Bogota, which makes me feel safe, not too sure about all you guys though.

Is Bogota dangerous? I'd say no based on what we saw, however, we were told by many people that we spoke to, that yes, keep your money hidden, do not walk further than a few streets past the plaza, don't show your phone, don't walk at night and other things like that. We were told the same thing about Mexico and that also wasn't too dangerous - in our opinion.

Kurt Caz is currently in Cartagena and has told people that I'm here in Bogota, and they all seemed to tell him that it was very dangerous in Bogota.
