Driving in a Mexican thunderstorm in the dark

We were heading back from Tulum after a day trip to that city to check out what it's like, and we saw on Google maps that there was a big traffic jam. We're used to this sort of thing in the UK, but didn't expect it here in Mexico. Because the rain was so bad, all of the roads had flooded, meaning some cars had broken down, some were floating, everybody was driving slowly. It was pretty dangerous.

I didn't catch the worst bits on camera, but here's a video showing what it was like after we got out of the 2 hour traffic jam.
