Bargaining in Kuala Lumpur's fake Chinese market 🇲🇾

In Kuala Lumpur’s notorious fake Chinese market, I met different types of salespeople, who were all really friendly. The place was clean, smelt fine, wasn’t busy, had a wide range of products and generally was a pleasant experience, when comparing it to other markets that I’ve been to where you’re harassed, berated, crowded and forced to smell the filth all over the floor as you walk around.

I’ve found Malaysia to be clean with friendly people in general, so to be honest, I expected similar at this market, but maybe slightly worse conditions, but I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of people just loitering around doing nothing. The place was only occupied by shopper and salespeople, which is how a market should be. A market should not be a place where you go to loiter because you’ve literally got nothing else to do than to make a place look messy. Take note.

In the market I got my iPhone screen protector replaced and bought a new case to replace the phone case I bought in Pakistan a while ago. I bought some underwear which happened to be XL, which is too big for me in British sizes, but were far, far too small for me in Malaysian sizes. I would have needed like XXXL to even come close to fitting me. I bought some sort of sports top with the Malaysia flag on which I really like, and it was a great price at only 15 Ringgit - the main reason I liked that top and the sales guy was because he had a large sign with the price of the t-shirts - no stupid guessing prices, making up prices depending on skin colour or nationality, just an honest, good price for a t-shirt at a fake market.

I bought some shorts and a t-shirt from a Malaysian lady who said ‘la’ a lot, which I found hilarious. I only needed the shorts, but due to her being really friendly, I bought the t-shirt. I did choose to bargain as there were no prices listed anywhere, but I just accepted the next price she said as it was a good price anyway la.

Overall I enjoyed this visit to this Malaysian market called Petaling Street market, in the centre of Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. It was far, far better than other market tours that I’ve done on this channel, mainly due to the attitude of the people, the cleanliness along with the good prices and lack of scammers. Well done Malaysia - good job dear krabs.
