Scientists say eggs are causing blood clots because they contain a substance called choline, which acts like a thickening agent in the blood. This has been linked to an increased risk of developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and other serious cardiovascular diseases.

Scientists at Cleveland Clinic reinforced the case against choline. The team of researchers analyzed data from more than 66,000 participants and found that those who ate eggs daily were significantly more likely to develop DVT.
