Martyrs for Christ in the End Days - Episode 4 (Non-Anonymous Charity)

Foxe's Book of Martyrs written by John Foxe in 1848 records a substantial amount of martyrdom in the name of Christ, starting with the 12 Disciples. Persecution came with the birth of the church age, will persecution come with the end of the age of the Church? Are we near these days? Ecclesiastes 7 verse 4 says A wise person thinks a lot about death, while a fool thinks only about having a good time. A problem of the church in our modern age is that it is so ingrained with culture, sometimes hard to distinguish a difference. Is the church at large guilty of being entertained into submission, going from evangelist to couch potato in shackles? Maybe this is a description that would fit the church today, maybe for western world churches.

We all hope that Christ rescues the church from suffering to come and tribulation through the rapture. What if He doesn't? What if all Christians are put before tribunals and executed if they confess the name of Christ? Sometimes it's best to think 'worst case scenario' and find a way to mentally accept it, prepare for it, overcome it in the spirit of Christ. This world is but a shadow, we are promised eternal life in heaven through Jesus' saving work on the cross. In the end it doesn't matter if all Christians everywhere experience violent deaths, death will not win, death is not the end.

It's important that the church and Christians maintain priorities in the last days. Having Ecclesiastes 7 verse 4 at the forefront of your mind will prepare you to successfully navigate future suffering, tribulation and death if it does come. We believe in the rapture but many leaders in these subjects almost have an attitude of pride about the rapture and being rescued from suffering/death. Maybe we should have the attitude of Christ that he displayed in the garden of gethsemane before being crucified. John 12 verse 27 says, Now my soul is deeply troubled. Should I pray, ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But this is the very reason I came!
