I’ve always been someone that dives right in head first. And I figured….1 theme page wouldn’t be enough of a test to REALLY get a grasp on how well this would work…or not.

I also didn’t think posting only 1 time per day would ultimately be enough if I really wanted to see results either.

So the plan was simple…
- Create several theme pages around niche topics that I believed were broad enough and had enough interest to potentially go viral. I created 5 in total.

- Then create a shopify store and find a product I thought each niche audience would be interested in. Then link that product in each tiktok bio.

- Then finally just post away. I’d clip videos on those niche topics…and also repost successful videos that ALREADY worked from other creators….and hopefully those views would turn into traffic to my shopify store….which would turn into sales.

- I’d also create YouTube Channels and Instagram Pages for these “brands” as well. And I’d post the same videos as shorts and reels…with the hopes of getting more views without having to create any additional videos.

The great thing about YouTube and Instagram is you can link right from the start, which helps focus organic traffic like this.

On tiktok however, there’s only 2 ways you can add a link in your bio. You need to have 1000 followers….or you need to register your tiktok account as a business.

And I knew it would be next to impossible to make ANY sales without a link in my tiktok bio so I had to do 1 of those 2 things for each account.

On 3 of the accounts, I purchased 1000 followers each so I could put a bio link in….and to my surprise it actually worked….AND the website didn’t scam me.

On the other 2 accounts I went through the process of applying with my business EIN and getting a bio link that way.

For some reason the 1 is STILL in pending and tiktok can’t seem to tell me why….or when the review will be complete.

But the other one did get accepted. So that means now we had 4 accounts (all with a bio link) where we could really start testing this theory.

Most of the posts didn’t get any traction, as I would’ve guessed…but I did have a few that popped off and got tens of thousands of views on tiktok.

I was also really excited about posting Instagram reels too since in pretty much all the videos I watched on this, 99% of them said something along the lines of “to my surprise, I had much more success on Instagram reels then on tiktok.”

It’s almost like they were watching each others videos and then copying them verbatum…in order to get views.

For me, Instagram wasn’t successful at all. I posted almost as many Instagram reels as I did tiktok videos….and my best one….to this date….got just over 1,000 views.

So, I’m not sure if I was just unlucky….or if my niches didn’t have the opportunity to get as much transaction on instagram…. Or what the case was. But needless to say, it was a giant waste of time.

On YouTube, we had a few shorts get some traction, but then I received an email from YouTube saying they removed one of my channels for “severe repeat violations of the community guidelines.”

Even though, I’ve never seen this before….and all I ever did on these youtube accounts was repost videos I clipped from tiktok…or created in premiere pro

…..I thought it was better to just stop posting there altogether b/c I didn’t want to risk my other channels and I honestly wasn’t sure what was happening.

So, all in all, after posting hundreds of videos to tiktok, Instagram reels, and youtube shorts, I had just under 2,000 sessions from organic traffic.

And from those 2,000 sessions, I got a total of…..3 sales.

For a whopping $120 in revenue….So I guess you could say I was successful simply by the fact that I proved the concept and it worked.

Although, with product costs around $60 in total….$45 in tiktok followers….$1 for a month after the shopify trial ended….and another $40 in shopify apps….that left me with a total profit of…..

Negative $19

So, my honest opinion on this is that it’s DEFINITELY not as easy as people make it out to be….or maybe I just suck at making short form videos that grow audiences.
