Last year facebook marketplace dropshipping was hands down the largest income stream in my business.
It was beyond easy to list products up and make sales.
THIS YEAR my sales have been down a lot from last year due to having my main facebook account disabled for intellectual property infringement.
This happened at the end of July. And at the time my dropshipping business was averaging pretty close to 20K profit every month.
The largest portions of that were all managed by my main facebook account. It was mainly 2 shops that were managed by my facebook profile in business manager….as well as the personal marketplace linked to my account.
When I received my 2nd intellectual property claim tied to that personal account…..it resulted in losing ALL OF THEM. ….with no hope of getting them back. And believe me….I tried EVERYTHINGGGG.
Also, both claims happened on shops. But because my main personal profile was the profile that was responsible for listing them ON THOSE SHOPS….that was the profile that got disabled.
And that’s key…we’ll talk about why here in a second.
So, as unfortunate as that was, I was able to pivot….get some other facebook accounts and begin to scale back up. …Which I did pretty successfully.
I currently have a facebook profile that has a pretty successful personal marketplace, as well as a few shops that are all doing pretty decent too.
So, why then….would I stop listing on facebook marketplace? And why am I warning you about it too.
Well, a few weeks ago I got another notification on this new account.
This was the first one on it….and again it came from a shop that I listed to.
And since I know from past experience that it only takes 1 more to get that account permanently disabled….I don’t want to mess around with it anymore.
It seems like this is becoming a larger issues on marketplace and shops as more and more sellers begin to sell here.
I’ve received countless messages AND comments since I released the video on my main account getting permanently disabled.
And both of my videos on how to contact support after you have an issue have received a lot of interest, as well. So I know it’s starting to effect more and more sellers.
Unfortunately, at the current time period, facebook marketplaces policies on how to deal with these type of issues are elementary at best…..and their support for sellers is laughable.
That means it’s EXTREMELY easy for people to file these copyright and intellectual property claims on facebook….BUT it’s EXTREMELY hard for you to fight them…..if you can even get ahold of an actual person at facebook.
To be fair, the latest one I received at least told me who the claiming party was…and gave me a way to contact them, as well as a link I could file an appeal through……which was not the case in the beginning for my first 2.
The first 2 on my previous account literally just said “hey, you’ve been hit with an intellectual property infringement strike.” With literally no other information and no way to appeal it.
So I have to figure they’re at least attempting to improve this appeals process going forward.
I mean, all other major platforms have systems in place so that if you receive a strike like this, you can appeal it. And you get the information of the complaining party if you want to escalate it even further than that.
Every platform is different of course….but etsy has one, amazon has one, ebay has one, and the list goes on and on…..
So…. B/c the easiest way to scale a dropshipping business on marketplace is to list LOTS OF PRODUCTS…..BUT….
