Eat the meat spit out the bones... Are You Sure You Should Be Doing That? This saying is usually inferring the idea that you need to listen to someone who may have good information or good knowledge and recommending to listen to them (or eat from them) and if you come across anything that you find not pleasing or distasteful (bad knowledge) than you would spit whatever they are saying out of your mouth.

The problem with this is that you lean on your own understanding because you would have to subjectively decide what you consider to be good for food and this is the same way that Eve was thinking when she was taking in "knowledge" from the serpent. She was leaning on her own understanding instead of putting her full faith and trust in Jesus who warned Adam out of love, that eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil will result in death. Eve was eating what she considered to be the "meat" of what the serpent was presenting to her and calling that "good" not realizing that she was eating the bones and had spit out the true meat which comes through the Word of God, from the voice of God, Jesus, which Adam and Eve knew while not knowing the serpent.

Eating the meat and spitting out the bones is a lie and false teaching that the serpent would want someone to do because you would be trusting in man by trusting in yourself and another human being believing that the truth or "meat" comes from man when in reality we see in scripture how God's Word is described as honey, milk, meat, bread and not the word of man while it is man that is made of bones and are faulty.
