Velma is a Masterclass in Creative Bankruptcy

The new show "Velma" by Mindy Kaling is a complete and utter failure at a storytelling level and a masterclass in Creative Bankruptcy. A prime example of self-indulgence disguised as a TV show, the show celebrates terrible personality flaws as character traits. It's a masterclass of how creative bankruptcy is eating away at our entertainment. The original Scooby-Doo show is a classic example of light-hearted campy entertainment that has stood the test of time. The five main characters were all friends who worked together to solve the mysteries they encountered. But the new show flips the script on these classic characters and is severely lacking in humor, with questionable and potentially hateful anecdotes. Modern writers are taking something that's been around for a while and completely screwing it up, all while patting themselves on the back for being edgy and subversive.
