Operation Mockingbird - Media Manipulation

Media manipulation is nothing new. Operation Mockingbird was a campaign conducted by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) beginning in the early 1950s and continuing until at least the late 1970s. The goal of this covert operation was to influence media outlets to propagate pro-American sentiment and anti-Communist views. This propaganda campaign used various techniques, including paying journalists, attempting to influence foreign correspondents, and secretly buying or controlling major print outlets and book publishers.
