Looking at Mexico across the Rio Grande River, as seen from Lajitas TX #usaborder #mexico #border

We spent a few days down on the US/Mexican border for the Big Bend Ultra Marathon in Big Bend Ranch State Park, but our home base was at the Mavrick RV Park in Lajitas, Texas. If you drove west on FM-170 to the edge of Lajitas, just past the Lajitas Golf Resort, there was an empty field where you could easily drive down to the Rio Grande river, so we did just that.

We tried to be careful about not flying across into Mexico, but there weren't any FAA flight restriction in effect, nor any Border & Customs Patrol nearby. We still decided to err on the side of caution and stay mostly on the US side of the river, or over the river itself.
