On Monday, Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence detected nine aircraft and four naval ships belonging to China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) in the island's proximity. In response, the ministry dispatched air and naval patrols to monitor the Chinese military presence and ensure the safety of Taiwan's citizens. However, the ministry was unable to clarify if the Chinese aircraft had ventured into Taiwan's air defence identification zone or not. According to the ministry's spokesperson, "We are closely monitoring the situation to make sure that Taiwan's security and sovereignty are not threatened."
