The theme of the book of James is about practical Christian living – learning how to properly and practically reflect Jesus to the world around us in our every day lives. In chapter 2, James touches on the sin of partiality – explaining how it’s wrong to favor some people over others based upon appearance or status. How has partiality manifested itself in our day? As it was in James’ day, our modern society also appears to be obsessed with status and ascribes value to individuals based on color, race, ethnicity and income, and unfortunately, the Social Justice ideology has only fanned this flame. How so? What should the Christian’s response be to the division and favoritism we see in our day?
