Canadian cops have arrested and charged a group of teenagers accused of stealing nearly CAD 1.3 million (GBP 780,000) worth of gold and silver in a raid in downtown Toronto last month.

The raid on the precious metal store was carried out on the property in York, which is a former city within Toronto, in the Canadian province of Ontario.

Regional Police say the three masked teenagers robbed the Bloor Street store at gunpoint before fleeing in a getaway vehicle driven by a fourth teenager, in the early afternoon on 10th December 2022.

The names of the four arrested were not revealed, but the suspects reportedly include two 15-year-old boys and two 17-year-old boys, all from Toronto.

Officers with the York Police were in the area at the time as part of an ongoing investigation into the suspects.

They reportedly managed to stop the vehicle, which was reportedly stolen, forcing the teenagers to flee on foot.

In a statement obtained by Newsflash, the York police said: "Officers recovered a loaded handgun and CAD 1,295,000 worth of gold and silver. As a result of the dedicated efforts of the investigators, the precious metals dealer, in this case, had their gold and silver returned.”

A small selection of the gold and silver that was recovered can be seen in this video.
