Greensand Casting Pewter Coins (Metal Sand Casting)

In this video I will be making some pewter coins using the greensand casting method. Greensand is an aggregate of sand, bentonite clay, pulverized coal and water. Its principal use is in making molds for metal casting. The largest portion of the aggregate is a sand, either most-commonly silica or sometimes olivine.
Greensand casting is one of the earliest forms of casting practiced due to the simplicity of materials involved. It still remains one of the cheapest ways to cast metals because of that same simplicity.
I will be using recycled pewter to make these coins using a coin that I made in the pas for the mold. Greensand casting is very easy and I will show you in this video.
