Huge 20x40 porcelain tile installed on a floor.over Schluter Ditra. Se how to install a large tile on a floor using the Grabo tool to facilitate the installation. These large polished porcelain tiles have a mosaic tile pattern on them. This is not an easy installation and requires the ability to measure and mark the tiles for difficult cuts using the pattern method, although straight cuts can simply be measured and then marked and cut. It is important to set the tiles on the appropriate mortar bond coat to achieve the required mortar coverage. A leveling system is also a huge help because these tiles are so large and have a big surface area, it is often helpful to walk on the tiles while the mortar is still fresh to help embed them in the mortar, the leveling system will keep them in place and flat.
