The Wrestling Show 01/21/2023: R.I.P. Jay Briscoe

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jay Briscoe (real name Jamin Pugh) and his family following his death last evening in a car accident. Jay and his brother Mark had just captured the ROH World Tag Team Championship, for the 13th time, last month at ROH's Final Battle 2022. The two of them had also held NJPW's IWGP Tag Team titles and the Impact World Tag Team titles once each. With Toru Yano they had held NJPW's Never Openweight 6 Man titles and with Bully Ray, aka Bubba Ray Dudley, they held the ROH 6 Man titles once, as well. As a singles wrestler, he was a 2 time ROH World Heavyweight Champion. R.I.P. Mr. Pugh. In the modern era, you were one of the best to never wrestle for WWE. When they turned you and your brother down for a contract, you stuck to your guns and refused to sign with them when they begged you to sign years later. You will be missed by both the fans and your colleagues.
