583LBS FOR 2 REPS!
Haven’t done trap-bar deadlifts in a long time and decided to load today. Hit 583lbs for 2 reps, felt great!
Why would a 42 year old lift this heavy? Isn’t it bad for my back?
On the contrary. This is the reason I am pain free and run laps around these young folks.
Lifting CORRECTLY and loading is the best thing you can do for yourself.
But why trap-bar?
Trap-bar deadlifts are beneficial for back health because they engage the muscles of the back, including the lats, erectors, and traps, which can help to strengthen and stabilize the spine. Additionally, the trap-bar allows for a more natural and comfortable grip, which can reduce the risk of injury to the hands and wrists. Furthermore, the trap-bar deadlift allows for a more upright torso position which is less likely to put stress on the lower back.
