» If the attackers really wanted, they could easily disable/kill the victim. It was 3 against 1 + a big knife and stuck in a corner. But in THIS situation, using the cart resulted in an interrupted third stab… that was enough to break off the entire fight. Luck was an important contributor! They could hold the cart and stab him. We don't know. Perhaps the victim had some other tricks using this cart.

Such an environmental weapon is ideal for breaking/stopping the attacker's momentum while using it as a bridge to your next move. Shield weapons (bigger) are less effective against multiple opponents surrounding you.
