The blue whale is the largest mammal in the world, growing up to 100 feet in length and weighing as much as 200 tons. These marine mammals are found in all of the world's oceans, and are known for their distinctive blue-gray color and long, slender bodies. Blue whales feed primarily on small crustaceans called krill, and can consume up to 4 tons of krill per day. Despite their massive size, blue whales are gentle giants, and are not known to pose a threat to humans. However, they have been hunted nearly to extinction by humans, and their populations have been greatly reduced.
