The money in El Salvador was highly inflated and losing value steadily. Central Bankers controlled the country and were looting and running it into the ground.

Then Nayib Bukele was elected to be El Salvador's president. He immediately began a massive crackdown on MS13 and made Bitcoin legal tender. This resulted in a 95% reduction in crime. Business and locals began to flourish not just from sound money but a safer work and living environment as the gang problem began to evaporate.
