Ukrainian interior minister among at least 18 killed in helicopter crash

The leadership of Ukraine’s interior ministry were killed on Wednesday, January 18, when their helicopter crashed into a residential area of Brovary, near the capital Kyiv. Minister of Internal Affairs Denys Monastyrskyi, his first deputy minister, and state secretary were all killed in the crash, National Police chief Ihor Klymenko said. At least 18 people were killed, including three children, and 29 were injured, according to the head of the Kyiv regional state administration, Oleksiy Kuleba. Footage from Radio Svoboda shows damage to buildings, streets, and vehicles at the site of the crash.
