Day 10 - I have been made Whole & Healed by His Stripes!

1Pe 2:20 For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.
1Pe 2:21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:
1Pe 2:22 "WHO COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS DECEIT FOUND IN HIS MOUTH";
1Pe 2:23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;
1Pe 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

The sufferings Jesus Christ was propitiatory, and we let alone anyone could not imitate His sufferings in this respect, and Peter does not suggest that we should. Rather the argument seems to be as His followers, the Savior's agony was not brought on by His own sins, for He had none. It was for our sins when He was nailed to the cross.

Because He has suffered for our sins once for all, we should never allow ourselves to get into the position where we have to suffer for them too. The fact that He died for them should cause us to die to the and yet, it is not simply a matter of negative-goodness; we should not only die to sin but live to righteousness.

By whose stripes you were healed. The word stripes is actually singular in the original, perhaps suggesting that His body was one massive welt or wound. What should be our attitude towards sin when our healing cost the Savior so much? The reasoning from this seems to be: Since you have been redeemed, live worthily of your heavenly calling in relation to your fellow-believers, to God, and to the State, 1Pe 2:17; to your employers, 1Pe 2:18; to husband, 1Pe 2:1; to wife, 1Pe 2:7; to everyone, 1Pe 2:8.

Let us remember that we have been placed in a corrupt and ungodly world as lights in the mist of darkness in order to bear witness to Jesus Christ by the simplicity and beauty of our godly conversation and lifestyle. The way of the Cross of Jesus Christ is the only safe way for us all, if we stay connected to Him our Shepherd and Protector. We have been made whole and healed by His Stripes, Believe it!
