Daily Chess play - 1290 - Seven games - Momentum shift
First game, I blundered my Knight for free. Later Iorgot my Rook was blocking his Queen from attacking my King so that was an auto-loss soon afterwards.
Second game, I traded my Queen for a Bishop and a Rook forcefully. I blunder my Knight soon after that because I didn't see the pin again. Lost all my pieces afterward so I resigned.
Third game, His Queen went in deep and wouldn't withdraw. Was able to defend most of my pieces. For some reason I couldn't see that his Queen could just take my Bishop. I went to take out the pawn on g2 for a check. In hindsight, not sure if that was a good idea. I traded Queens; I was a bishop ahead and my pawns looked better. I protected that center pawn like mad. Lost a Rook to a fork but I got his Knight. Gave my Knight for free but my King was able to escape and hide behind his pawns. I promoted my pawn and got his other Rook. I was then able to threaten his other pieces. I mess up later on again with my Bishop but opponent ran out of time. Dodged a bullet.
Fourth game, I decided to play on; I had a good feeling. Having said that I blundered my Knight early on. Maybe I am trying to give my opponents confidence =). I then position my Bishop and Queen for a checkmate. I used this position to pull all his pieces towards me. I started marching up my pawns on the King side. He kept trying to block me but I would always have a piece advantage and take it with my Knight; MVP Knight. For whatever reason later, opponent forfeits. I ended up with 2 pawns up even after horrible start.
Fifth game, Was feeling the momentum. Even start. Opponent wanted to trade Queens early on; I accepted. He then resigns; not sure why.
Sixth game, Previous game was too fast. Even trades at the opening. I think the opponent taking on Queen side vs King side was a mistake. This allowed me to march my pawns up. Ended up forking his Rook and Bishop. His Queen moved to attack my behind my defense and I was able to know which square he wanted so I setup my Queen to occupy. He then blunders his Queen into my Queen. Resigned after that.
Seventh game. I was really feeling it now. Lots of trades early on. I lost my Rook for an uneven trade but opponent lets me take his Rook back for a Knight. We then trade Queens. I had the better structure but we both misplay and he blunders his Rook to my King. I took that as a sign for my last game.
