Rietveld refinement is a technique described by Hugo Rietveld for use in the characterisation of crystalline materials. The neutron and X-ray diffraction of powder samples results in a pattern characterised by reflections at certain positions.

What is FullProf? The FullProf program has been mainly developed for Rietveld analysis (structure profile refinement) of neutrons (constant wavelength, time of flight, nuclear and magnetic scattering) or X-ray powder diffraction data collected at constant or variable steps in scattering angle 2theta.

VESTA (short for Visualisation for Electronic Structural Analysis) is a 3D visualization programme for structural models, volumetric data such as electron/nuclear densities, and crystal morphologies.
