Why Do Tamils Wear The Pottu?

I have barely scratched the surface of the depths of the pottu in this video.
From its history, why our ancestors started wearing it, to how it should be worn, there's so much to cover!

Confused about Varma Points, Varma Therapy or Siddha System of Medicine? :

Tamil Siddha Medicine system (originally named Arivan Medicine) is an ancient Tamil medical system backed up by science. Varma Therapy is part of the Siddha Medicine System. It's used in hospitals and by doctors mainly in India and Malaysia today. Majority of the world today uses an Allopathic based system. Meaning, we are getting treated for the pain, symptoms and diseases through use of drugs etc. The Siddha system is based on getting to the root cause of the pain to eliminate the disease for good.

The core principles of the Siddha system is to focus less on medicines, and speaks more to leading a mentally and physically healthy life to prevent diseases through the use of your environment. A video further exploring this will be made in the future :)
