In Bosphorus line of ships stretched for many kilometers, traffic south to north still prohibited
A queue of ships anchored and awaiting permission to pass through the Bosphorus from south to north stretched for many kilometers along the coast of the Marmara Sea in Istanbul.
According to RIA Novosti, in the Bosphorus Strait, the movement of ships was partially resumed from 17:40 after the ship was removed from the shallows.
The agency reports that shipping has been suspended for more than ten hours. Vessel traffic from south to north is currently still prohibited.
According to the agency, ships lined up to pass through the Bosphorus along the coast of the Sea of Marmara in a string of at least 45 kilometers. More than 75 vessels are reported, including at least 35 oil tankers.
*Earlier, a ship en route from Ukraine ran aground in the Bosphorus Strait. As a result of the incident, traffic along the strait was stopped.*
