Episode 961: The Bible is Catholic

St Jerome translated the Bible into Latin between A.D. 383 and 404. He originally translated it all from Greek, but as he went on he corrected the Old Testament against the Hebrew original. (The New Testament was originally written in Greek.)

Martin Luther OSA was a German priest, theologian, author, hymnwriter, professor, and Augustinian friar. He is the seminal figure of the Protestant Reformation who gave his name to Lutheranism. Luther was ordained to the priesthood in 1507. 1200 years after St Jerome. Hmm, how did Protestants claim ownership of the Bible?
