How A Basic 6 Speed Automatic Transmission Works: PART 1

Take a look at the bare minimum when setting up the automatic transmission. This 3D animation will show the general overview of how the auto trans works. There are modifications made to this gearbox that detract from the original.

It all boils down to three parts: the input shaft, intermediate shaft, and the output shaft. As long as you can find a way to transfer power from the input to the output , you essentially have a moving vehicle.
