Cleveland right-hander Aaron Civale has been one of the Guardians' biggest disappointments this season. He'll take the mound on Friday, with a 1-3 record and a whopping 9.85 ERA in six outings. After scoring two runs or fewer in their previous game, the Guardians are 1-6 in their past seven games.

Tarik Skubal (3-2, 2.50) will start for the Tigers, who has never beaten the Guardians. In four career starts versus Cleveland, he is 0-2 with a 5.94 ERA, including 0-1 with a 9.95 ERA in two starts at Progressive Field. But this won't matter because, Cleveland has dropped five of its previous six games, including a two-game sweep against Cincinnati in which the Guardians had only eight hits and six runs. Following an off day, the Tigers are 14-5 in their previous 19 games.
