Bosphorus was blocked for the movement of ships, Ship en Route from Ukraine runs Aground

A ship en route from Ukraine has run aground in the Bosphorus Strait, resulting in the waterway's closure to traffic, the Haberturk tv channel reported on Monday.

The incident happened off Sariyer, the northernmost district of Istanbul, the broadcaster said, adding that rescue operations ongoing.

"In connection with the incident, the movement of ships in the Strait was suspended, a rescue operation is being carried out," the agency informs.

The department clarified that the cargo ship was aground near the village of Umuryeri.
