Easy way to tell if you have a gas water heater or electric

One way to tell if a water heater is gas or electric is to look for the fuel source it is connected to. A gas water heater will have a gas line connected to it, while an electric water heater will have an electrical cord or a panel of circuit breakers. Additionally, a gas water heater will usually have a standing pilot light or an electronic ignition, while an electric water heater will not. Another way is to check the model number and brand, usually the model number and brand name will indicate if it is gas or electric.
