Oil Painting | Squirrel On A Tree | Part 3

In this #short I'm just showing the next phase in my oil painting. After the blocking in, I went ahead and added another layer to the background, which already made the squirrel pop out more, partly because of tone, but mostly because of the blurry, dark branches that create a sense of depth in contrast to the sharper foreground. Then I continued working on the head. It's still nowhere near of what I want it to be, but I will keep working until I get it right.
